The collection of public art newly installed at all five Plano libraries will be dedicated at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at Davis Library, 7501-B Independence Parkway, Plano, Texas. The ceremony will include a poetry reading and video presentation.
Inspired from poems by Texas Poet Laureate Alan Birkelbach, the art installations were designed by Teresa Camozzi, a mixed-media artist from San Francisco, California. The themes of the poetry focus on aspects of Plano’s history and culture. A unique poem and artwork is featured at each library.
This project is part of the City of Plano’s public art program, managed by the Public Art Committee and Creative Arts Division. The budget was approved and funded by City Council in 2005. The artist was selected after a national search and the designs developed with community input.
